Automatically change field when another is edited

I have two yes/no boxes, one for customer and one for former customer. I want to know if there is a way that when I uncheck comeone as a customer it can automatically check them as former customer. I'm using ACT! 2008. Any ideas? Thanks in advance!

cant you just have 1 yes/no (or change it to customer/non customer in a drop down menu) and then set up 2 groups, one for customers and one for non customers, so that it picks up which the contact is?

I could, but what I'm trying to accomplish is knowing who my past customers were, not just people who aren't my customer. I'm trying to break down my contacts into current customers, former customers, and non customers. I just am trying to make sure that people who once were customers are properly labeled as former customers if they cancel my service.
