I am using ACT Pro V18 on Windows 7 OS.
After backing up the Database, a Fresh Reinstall of Windows
and a Fresh Reinstall of ACT Pro v18 was completed.
Each time Restore is attempted, the message "Act can not Authenticate User" pops up.
I did not use a password with the backup.
Protexis Licensing v2 was manually uninstalled and reinstalled and it did not correct the issue.
ACT was then Uninstalled and reinstalled and that did not correct the issues.
I really need to get to the data stored in the Backup.
How can I get around the "authenticate user" issue?
Thanks for the help.

Hello,
Sounds like it is asking for the database User name and password?

Many thanks

Carl,
the link submitted seems to refer to openning a database for which the user and password are unknown.
The situation I am facing is RESTORING A DATABASE using the correct user name and password and getting an error
message CANNOT AUTHENTICATE USER.
What is the work around for this situation?

Hello,
Below is the message when I Restore a database with wrong credentials.
Try leaving password blank.

Can you clarify exactly at which point it is asking for credentials.
During restore or once restored when logging onto the database.

Sorry to keep asking questions but
Does it give you the option of putting in a user name and password or does it go straight to the error message?

It allows for the user name I did not save with password so there is no password to enter
