When I get an email with an attachment, my email does not recognize the program it was created in.  When I click on the attachment a  list of programs to choose from appears.  The program that I know the files was created in is shown as not applicable.  Please help!

Re: Attachments

What email client are you using?
What extension is the attachement?
What is the program that shows as not applicable?

Re: Attachments

I am using 1and1.com as my email client.
I am getting attachments that are Word documents and Autocad drawings files.  The attachments appear with the proper extensions (.doc and .dwg) but when I click on them I get to choose from the program list.  Autocad and Word say Not Applicable next to them in the program list.

Re: Attachments

I don't know what 1and1.com is - the email clients ACT! uses are Outlook, Outlook Express, Lotus Notes and Internet Email

What happens if you save the attachment to the desktop and double-click to open it?

Re: Attachments

I was wrong our email client is Internet Email.  I am not able to save the attachments to my desktop.  I have had no problems with attachments for the past 2 years and now all the sudden I am having problems with them.  I have tried forwarding the email with the problem attachments to my personal email.  I open them on the same computer with no problems.

Re: Attachments

But what happens when you try?
Is there an error?
Is the option not there?

If you have Outlook, you might try connecting ACT! to Outlook instead of Internet Mail... it tends to be better

Jackie, What operating system are you running? Also, is this a shared database and if so, does it happen to anyone that receives an attachment via ACTEmail?
