Community,
All the Contacts in one database were gone; save 1, mine, the User account. -- however --
All the Companies were visibile, though no contancts were associated with any of the contacts.
There are 535 contacts and 160 companies.
I ran ACTDiag.exe and rebuilt / reindexed the database
had a message that there were a lot of errors.
Still the *.ADF size is 36,000 KB
and the *.ALF size is 10,000 KB
Any thoughs / services to restore.

Did you by chance delete a contact? If ao sis you delete the single contact or the lookup?

I don't know if I deleted any contacts for the file became corrupted.
When I looked up all contacts, only my record was visible.
Still the files are very large.
Yet 1 record and 160 companies are visible.
Thanks,

What complete version of act are you using? refer ACT! / Help / About
What was the error message?
Do you have a backup of your database?

My Version:
Sage ACT! Pro 2011 Version 13.0.401.0, Hot Fix 2
Operating system:
Windows 8.1
I have added a lot of records since my last backup.
I know the data's "in-there" due to the size fo the files.
Any suggestions to "see it"

John,
Now What was the error message?
That needs to be addressed first.
Then
You should be on svcpak1 hotfix6
reference
http://act.com/support/downloads/sage-act-pro-2011/
Size 34100 KB 12/16/2011
ACT2011SP1HF6.exe Sage ACT! 2011 SP1 Hot Fix 6
Note:
It appears you maybe have not installed service pak1 even although you do have hotfix2?
You may need to do service pak1 first, then get the svcpak1 hotfix6 item..
Manually download and install it - close act prior.
But lets get to the error message first.

Bill,
My version is now: Sage ACT! Pro 2011 Version 13.0.401.0, Hot Fix 2
I've detached, repaired and re-indexed the db multiple times
Still,
Only 1 contact (mine) and the 160 companies are visible, no contacts, no notes.
The .ADF file is: 35,008 KB
The .ALF file is: 25,088 KB
So the data is 'in-There'.
Any thoughts? / Any one?

John,
In your initial post you stated that you encountered error messages;
I ran ACTDiag.exe and rebuilt / reindexed the database
had a message that there were a lot of errors.
If you can tell me what the error was, I can tell you how to resolve.
You can lookup the error msg in the act knowledgebase.
What happens if you perform a File Save Copy As and create a copy of your data base?
Try this resolve

Under the circumstances, the database file size has little meaning, The most likely cause of the missing contacts is that you inadvertently deleted all the contacts except your my record which can't be deleted. Because companies are in a separate table from the contacts, deleting the contacts wouldn't delete the company records. There is a remote possibility that the database is internally corrupted and that's what's masking the contact records. If I had the database on ly system I'd check the actual contact table with SSMS however I think I would find only one contact record.
At this point I would suggest that you do a Restore As of your database backup using a different database name so that it doesn't overwrite your present database and do as much manual recovery as possible.
Sorry for the bad news.

John,
My prev reply should show you the way to zannadoo?
That kb article prob holds the key to your resolve. there should be a sql fix shown in that article?
You could try deleting your Preferences using actdiag? minor inconvenience reseting your preferences.
But,
I have actually seen ACT!2011 Pro do this on my pc and others.
Also there was no info in that my record contact,
Here is how we resolved it.
In the contacts module where you only show 1 contact,
select a different Contact Layout
close act!
re-open act!
But since you mentioned that you ran actdiag and had some sort of msg stating that you had many errors, that is why I did not offer that solution earlier. So try it and see what happens.
Take daily backups moving forward. Using ACT! / File / Backup database
also backup your personal file items daily.
