Activity shows up in ALL lookup folders

When I do a lookup on a selected ID Status, I get the list (10 names in this example) but the activity listed for them is the SAME date, when I know that the activity (subscription renewal) is supposed to be different for each of them. I delete ONE activity and ALL of them are deleted! Then I add another activity to ONE and it shows up on ALL of this lookups records.

What gives???

thanks

Jeff

Re: Activity shows up in ALL lookup folders

3 things:

1. Run 'Check and Repair' on the datase.  This option is found under the Tools menu > select Database Maintenance > select Check and Repair.

Test again.

2. Open the Demo database and see if the same behavior happens there.  You should find the demo database by clicking on File > Open Database.  You shouldn't be prompted for the user name but just in case: username = chris huffman, password is blank.

Test in demo.

3. Check the Windows Event Viewer for any errors.

This is to help isolate the issue to your database or to the installation of the program.

Re: Activity shows up in ALL lookup folders

You aren't by chance scheduling from the Contact List view?  Having all of the contacts hilited/selected?

Re: Activity shows up in ALL lookup folders

Thanks- nope, I don't schedule in Contact List view. These several activities were scheduled individually (most likely at different dates and times) for a yearly renewal of their subscription. But when I opened my listing of these companies, all of them had the exact same activity scheduled (same time and date). When I deleted one, they were ALL deleted!

New one for me!!!

Thanks

Jeff

Re: Activity shows up in ALL lookup folders

OK, here's an update on this problem. Seems that it only happens when the Activities tab is active. When I click on any other tab, the bottom of the screen (the listing of notes/history/activities, etc) DOES move with the contact detail. However, if I default to the Activities tab and open Act, then the bottom (listings) STAY THE SAME as I move from contact to contact. Once I click on another tab, then they sync up ....

Does this make sense to anyone?????

SO weird.....

thanks

Re: Activity shows up in ALL lookup folders

Which version of ACT!?

How many records in the database?

Does the History tab exhibit the same behaviour?

In all other respects is ACT! performing well moving from contact to contact or running Lookups, does it operate efficiently?

Re: Activity shows up in ALL lookup folders

Thanks for the reply.

I'm using Act 2009 v.11.1

This only happens when I do a lookup (which works fine) and then move (right arrow) from one contact in the lookup to the next. The Activity list (at the bottom half of the screen) doesn't change!! The top (contact details) DOES move to the next contact. When I switch to history or notes, it works FINE! The only problem is with the ACTIVITY tab!

All else is good!! (so far....)

Re: Activity shows up in ALL lookup folders

When you go from one contact to the next - try clicking on the F5 (Refresh) key before making any changes.  Does that update the information to display correctly?

Re: Activity shows up in ALL lookup folders

Greg,

Nothing happened when I hit F5....

Here 's another update: I did a lookup on 3 names- the problem was there (no change in the Activities list); then I clicked the History tab and everything worked FINE. I did another lookup and EVERYTHING was fine again!!!
I closed Act and re-opened. Did the SAME lookup and IT WORKED FINE. Then, did another lookup on 17 names- everything seemed to work fine again!!! THEN I modified one contact (set up a call) and POOF- stuck again!!!! (the same call shows up on every one of the 17 contacts. It actually is "frozen" on the bottom, so just the top progresses to the next contact and the bottom is still stuck on the original contact.

SO WEIRD!!!

thanks

Jeff

Re: Activity shows up in ALL lookup folders

Not sure what happened but everything seems to be working now!! Let's hope for the best....

I did the repair/maintenance- no problem.

I did notice that the demo program has HISTORY as the first tab, where my database has ACTIVITY as the first one- hmmm......maybe no big deal.

In any case, thanks for your assistance!!
