Activity is evaporating

2 days ago discovered that all uncleared meetings (past and future) were gone - erased is seems.  Today discovered almost all uncleared activity gone (todo's, appointments (seperate from meetings), most calls, baseball (custom activity)).  Research led me to check all filters, can find none that would indicate the problem but then why the worsening state?  I've checked "Filter Activities"; someone had a problem with "Show Only Timeless" checked.  Not the case for me.  When I book an acitivity type that now has disappeared (meeting for ex.), it appears - so no filtering is at work.  Where in the $%^$#@ did my activities go?  I have plenty to do, but I don't know what and for whom?  Desperate!!!!

Re: Activity is evaporating

Hello Igould,

Welcome to the Sage ACT! Online Community!

Can you provide additional information about your issue, so that members can better assist:

- Version of Sage ACT!?  (Help > About ACT!)

- Sounds like there are other users of the database - is the issue only happening with your ACT! username?

- Do you synchronize with any other programs?  If yes, which?

- Have you checked the Task List, Calendar views, and Contact Detail/Activities tab - to see if the activities are displayed in any of these areas?

- Do the newly created activities disappear, after some time?

- Do you have a backup of the database?  If yes, you may want to restore it using the 'File > Restore > Database > Restore As' option to prevent overwriting your existing database, so that you can view your activities.

Re: Activity is evaporating

Thanks for the reply.  To resond:

Version: Sage ACT! Pro 2011 Version 13.1.111.0, Hotfix 1

No other users - only operating off my harddrive as a single user

Syn with Outlook and having been doing so for about 1 year

Displayed activities in other areas:  Yes - the missing meetings are missing in all views

To the extent that I have been blocking additional meetings and they seem to hold, I presume (with trepidation) that they will currently hold.  ACT syncs with Outlook every 10 minutes so  I have a backup.

I copied the database not too long ago and accessed this copy.  The problem is, while some of the meetings which are no longer visible may have been posted to the older version of my database, I couldn't be certain and so an inspection of the appearance of the older database didn't really help.

I know this must seem to be an outlyer event given the circumstances, I'm much obliged for anyone having a level of insight as to what may have happened.

Re: Activity is evaporating

I am experiencing a similar problem.  I sync with Google and with a remote database and everything for the next two years has disappeared, all activities and all priorities.  I am using Sage ACT! Pro 2012 Version 14.1.108.0.  I would also appreciate any help.

Re: Activity is evaporating

Same happens in ACT 2009 (V11). There are so many bugs, and as they are not supporting this version soon, there is no way they will address the issue... seems more current versions still having issues. Seems like bugs are paid lip service until that particular version goes to the unsupported bucket and never to be seen again.

Hello Gere,
Where are the activities disappearing from - ACT! or Google? In your Google calendar sync settings in ACT!, do you have the option selected to delete Google activities when they are cleared in ACT!? Are you also syncing your activities with another app, like Outlook or a mobile device?

Re: Activity is evaporating

Greg,

Thanks for the question.

When I update the master, they have disappeared from both and I have it set to leave it on the google calendar.  Moreover, my remote database is also losing information when it synchs with the master.  I am not synching with anything else, just the remote database and google.  I only synch with google from the master.

Re: Activity is evaporating

Just to clarify, when you say "they have disappeared from both", are you referring to the ACT! and Google calendars, or both the remote and main databases - or all of the above?

Re: Activity is evaporating

Greg,

Actually some activities have disappeared from all of the above.  In the case of the remote database, sometimes they disappeared and sometimes they just didn't update.  In the case of Google, some activities disappeared completely from ACT from ACT and from Google,  some just disappeared from ACT.  The main database does not appear to be accepting any updates from the remote.

Re: Activity is evaporating

Greig,

Just to clarify the problem is that activities are evaporating out of the ACT database. Any other combination of applications used, devices used or number of users is irrelevant.

Just my 2 cents worth.

At least we all know now that upgrading to the 2012 version doesn't fix this problem.
