We are newer to ACT! and trying to get full usage of the dashboards ... however, they seem to only give us very "condensed" information. Specifically, we want to use the Activities dashboard to track number and type of activity, but because it condenses all types of calls (cold calls, call backs, etc.) into just "Calls" and so forth, it is not reporting at the level of detail we'd like it to.
Are we misusing these dashboards, or is there no way to truly see every type of activity in that view?

Most of us recommend a third part add-on to get the robust dashboard experience you are looking for: http://toplineresults.com/addons/topline-dash.aspx Product is called Topline Dash.
It is possible to modify the out of the box ACT! dashboards, but you need to know and understand SQL queries to properly do so. Thus, the reason whey we recommend an addon for most users.
