Act2000 to (yikes) Act! 2011 question.

Finally making the move - long overdue!

If I leave Act 2000 on my computer can I download and use Act! 2011 ?

I've been told this would be okay as they are different vendors and platforms. Is that correct?

It would be easier as I would manually transfer data - my contacts are too old to play transfer with, and 2000 is thoroughly damaged by now that it shuts down twice a day. Nor do I have the time or shpilkis to fix it now.

Re: Act2000 to (yikes) Act! 2011 question.

Hello Marc,

Yes you can run both programs on one machine, as they both run on different back ends.

I would suggest that you run database maintenance on your ACT! 5 database before trying to convert it to 2011, even after you convert your database to 2011 you will still be able to open your old one with ACT! 5.

Take a look at How To Use The ACT! Data Diagnostic Tool (ACTDIAG) to Scan and Repair a Database once this is done open up your act database in version 5 so it can re-index.

Then follow this KB on How to Convert an ACT! 3.x, 4.x, 5.x (2000) or 6.x (2004) Database to Sage ACT! 2011

Hope this helps
