Act won't open

I have an older version of Act, probably around 2008.  I have a Mac but have Windows Parallels and can't open ACT.

I click on it and it loads, showing contacts and then disappears from the screen.

When I had a window computer I had this program and did something with the SQL Server.

Help!!

After the program disappears, is the ACT! program still listed in the Task Manager?

 

Are there any errors in the Windows Event Viewer?

It's still listed and the funny thing is, I had an appointment come up and that was totally visable.

It may be that the program is displaying out of the monitor viewing area.  Try the steps in this article: KB Article 23807

This worked but the program is coming out full screen.  When I try to minimize it, it disappears.

any idea how I can make the program smaller?

When minimized, try the first step in the article - it should allow you to resize the program once relocated to the viewing area:

Click on the Sage ACT! application icon in the task bar to select it.
Depress the ALT key and Space bar simultaneously, then release.
Depress and release the M key.
Depress an arrow key and release.
Now move the mouse around to reposition the screen.
Left clicking on the mouse will stop the movement.
