Act! and LinkedIn?

[ Edited ]
Greetings,

I'm curious to know if there is a straightforward way to add the people in my LinkedIn network as contacts in my Act! database.

The only thing I can think of at this time is that LinkedIn provides an Outlook Toolbar to manage LinkedIn contacts in Outlook.

So I would conceive of the following scenario:
1) Export my contacts from LinkedIn to my Outlook address book
2) Import the contacts from my Outlook address book into Act!

I haven't tried the above yet, but was hoping others could confirm/validate if this is the best approach.

Cheers,

There's a tool in the Developer section of this Community that allows you to display (sort of) the LinkedIn contact details in a tab of your contact. It's not bad for free... but it basically just does a URL search rather than a link to the contact.

I was wondering if anyone had done anything better also...

Re: Act! and LinkedIn?

Hi Mike,

Thanks for you reply.

I haven't looked at the Developer section yet, but do I presume correctly that it means the contacts already exist in my Act! database for the link to point to their LinkedIn profile?

I was actually hoping to find a way to bring all my LinkedIn contacts into Act!. So if I have, for example, 100 people in my LinkedIn network, then I hope I won't have to manually enter 100 contacts into my Act! database.

Cheers,

Yes, you presume correctly...

If you go to the Contacts section in LinkedIn and export to CSV, you should be able to import that into ACT!

Re: Act! and LinkedIn?

Linkedin follows my contacts as they move from company to company.... Now I can stay current with my contacts and my database matures as my contacts mvoe into management.

I understand there is a plugin for syncing ACT up with linkedin in the developers section....

How does that Linkedin plugin work?  Does it work better with the online version of act Premium or with ACT 2010?

For now i was going to add a field to ACT that would allow a linkedin posting.   Any suggestions?

Is there now an add-on that allow you to sync or exchange information between a contact and its connected Linked-In contact?
