Act! Pro v21.0 to v21.1 – A new version upgrade?

Customer Service told me that Act! Pro v21.1 is considered a completely new version from v21.0. To upgrade, I have to pay $300!

 

The reason was a third party licensing issue. I thought that was addressed in v21.0 updates.

 

act!21_pro_v21_sp1x187.exe is the current download file for someone buying ACT! Pro v21.

 

act!21_pro_v21_sp0x295.exe is the file I downloaded and installed in December 2018.

 

Ch1p posted a few weeks ago that Swiftpage had released Service Pack 1 and then withdrew it. It feels like v21.1 is just v21.0 with the service pack installed…. and that I should be entitled to update  - not upgrade - to this version without charge.

 

Any thoughts or suggestions?

 

My concern is that Microsoft will change something in Windows in the future and my v21.0 won’t work anymore and Swiftpage won’t provide a v21.0 update to fix it

 

I am running Act! Pro Version 21.0.295.0, Update 7 on Windows 10, standalone laptop.

I wouldn't worry so much about something in Windows changing as I would something in ACT changing.

The newest version sends data to Amazonaws but ACT doesn't know what it is or why...  Funny that.

Your link says that the licensing issue is dealt with in update 4 for v21.0 - which I've installed. I'm current thru update 7

Anyone who has good security will find that ACT 21.1 will freeze up at the 5 minutes mark after being open.  It's becoming a consensus that ACT needs to talk to Alexa except nowhere in ACT kb and certainly none of the support people know what it is actually doing.  

Maybe just collecting everyone database to sell to China.  Facebook did it, why not ACT?
