In answer to your questions,

  1. Ideally you should not have to manage this. We're aware of some issues with this functionality right now and are working hard on solutions. In the meantime, support are here to help with unexpected behaviour.
  2. Methods for this would depend on how the email failed to attach in the first place. Checking the Attach to Act! Contacts window for attached and not attached emails would be my primary suggestion. I go into more detail how this works in this post.
  3. We do not yet have a final resolution to this issue. Investigations and development are currently ongoing.
  4. As the integration between Act! and Outlook relies heavily on technology developed by Microsoft (MAPI), any changes made to this feature set in future Office updates could potentially have a knock-on effect on the integration between the two programs. We have taken steps to avoid this, by receiving early pre-release builds of Office from Microsoft for internal testing, and publishing the recommendation that Act! customers use the deferred updates channel for Office.

As a side note, have you ever tried integrating Act! with Outlook via Act! Premium Contact Link? This works in a different way to the standard Outlook integration, and has a different set of features. You might find this useful as an alternative if you are regularly encountering issues with the standard integration. You can see a demonstration of it in use here. More details and setup info here.
