Act! Pro Version 17.2.217.0, Hot Fix 2 losing data on new contact set up

Data such as contact name, company name disappear frequently just after being entered; just experienced losing whole new record after entering company, contact name,  email address, telephone #. Have tried searching for various spellings on company and for contact's first and last name.
