Act 9.0 and Parallels error "not able to access path"

I am new to Parallels and have it working for some applications, but I can't access my ACT 2007 database. Not sure if it is the memory allocated to the Virtual Machine, or something that I don't understand about where to locate my database that will allow my system to operate. My Mac has the following build:

Hardware Overview:

Model Name: iMac
Model Identifier: iMac6,1
Processor Name: Intel Core 2 Duo
Processor Speed: 2.16 GHz
Number Of Processors: 1
Total Number Of Cores: 2
L2 Cache (per processor): 4 MB
Memory: 1 GB
Bus Speed: 667 MHz
Boot ROM Version: IM61.0093.B07
SMC Version: 1.10f3
Serial Number: W871307MVGN

One other possible complication is that my database is on an external hard drive since my PC crashed.
Any ideas? THANKS!

Re: Act 9.0 and Parallels error "not able to access path"

Do you get the error: the database could not be accessed

goto file | open database | under files of type select act database.adf

browse to your external drive, try to open your database and check

if this doest copy the database from your external drive and move it to the local drive
try to open the database using adf file and check

Re: Act 9.0 and Parallels error "not able to access path"

Thanks for the direction. I'm still not having success. The system now asks me to locate the database on the local drive, after I'e already done so. Message reads "database must be located on the local drive. Files on shared or mapped drives cannot be used." Could it be how it is named? I've located it on the c: drive but the path reads \\.PSF\Home\Documents\Act\Act for Win7\Databases. I'm lost. Does this make sense to anyone?

Re: Act 9.0 and Parallels error "not able to access path"

Seems your c:\ drive is mapped to a network drive
unshare the c:\drive from the network and then try
also goto start | run | actdiag  select the option database in this window
check if your database is listed in this window, if so check the status of the database

You have been so helpful. Act is now running and it operates well with no delays or issues due to running parallels. I am really very very thankful.
