Hi all. We are a small company with 7-8 users sharing 3-4 Act databases. Our current version of Act! is 4.02 and Word 2000 and we are in the early stages of moving to Act! 2011/Office 2010. We primarily use Act! to generate and organize documents with templates.
I have backup copies of the databases to experiment with and I immediately ran into a few snags. Act! 2011 has sepertate tabs for notes, documents and history while ver 4 lumps them all together. I converted a database and all of the file attachments (which are shortcuts) went into the history tab instead of the document tab. Is there a way to avoid this when converting an older database? Next, none of the links, which use a universal path (//machine name/folder/filename.doc) are working. Attachments show up in the history but there is a message similar to "unable to convert file..."
I am in the earlier stages so I'm not sure how big of a problem this will be. Is this a common problem or is anyone familiar with this scenario?
TIA
J
