Hello, I'm using the following:
Act 2013 Pro 126.96.36.199
Act! program & Office are on main HD--Database located on 2nd internal HD
Win 7 64 bit
In November I had to replace my pc. I had been running Act 2013 with no issues. When I installed Act on my SSD I located the database on another internal HD. Ever since then I have been unable to configure email to record in Act.
My suspicion is that with Outlook And Act! on the SSD & the database on another HD, Outlook can't find the contact. Does anyone have any ideas as to how I can resolve this?

There is a way to test your suspicion by putting your db back on same drive.
I am not sure that would be the problem though.

Here is what I would try next;
Reference Help / About - do you see hotfix 6?(correction hotfix4)
If not, manually download and install from act download center http://act.com/support/download-center/
still have problem?
Check your control panel / programs feature , insure that microsoft .net framework 4.5 is installed.
Manually check for windows updates and apply as needed.
Still have problem?
You mentioned that you were unable to config your new address book and email settings preferences?
please provide details and or error messages of that problem. hope this helps - cheers - FSB

Thanks for the quick response! This is what I have done according to your instruction:
1. Relocated DB to the primary drive
2. Hotfix 4 is the latest listed on the link you provided, but I've installed that. Is there another place to get Hotfix 6?
3. Framework 4.5.1 is already installed.
4. Not sure about your mention of configuring the address book. I went into preferences as I always have and went through the setup process under "Email" & sync'd my contacts with Outlook.
Have noticed on "Outlook-Add In" the only 2 icons are for syncing contacts & calendar. Before there were icons to attach emails to contacts and something else.
Any suggestions as to what to try next? Thanks again for your help in trying resolve this.

My bad - you are now on correct hotfix4 - did you also try this from my prev post/reply?

I believe this might be pointing me to the problem. When I get to step 6 to add additional address books, Act Address book does not appear. What steps do I take to get my Act Address book into Outlook?

Preferences / email and outlook sync tab / email system setup button - on step 6 click the Edit button then you can browse.

I apologize, but I can't read the text in the picture you posted. Maybe it's my old eyes .
I have been to the email setup maybe 100 times trying to fix this. When I get to Add/ Edit Address Book, the location of my database appears by default in the text box: "C:\Users\Steve\Documents\ACT\ACT Data\Databases\Contacts.pad".
Is there someplace else I can point for the address book to appear in Outlook?

click the edit or add button when you are at the point where your desired db does not appear, then you can browse to desired location/pad file. clicking on my screenshot image above will now enlarge

Not sure I'm adequately conveying what I'm doing for you to understand. When I click on edit or add, the default points to the location where the .pad file is. When I re-select it it I get " An address book already exists for the selected database. Please select another database" Is there someplace else I should be pointing?
I went to Outlook-options-add ins & looked @ Act Add Ins- Under location, it is the only add in that uses: "mscoree.dll".
Everything else has a specific address in a directory such as: c\dir\...
Don't know if this is significant, but thought I'd mention it.

With that error message, it sounds like you already have the desired database selected and continue on - Click Next.
If any other messages please let me know know. It sounds like we are getting close I hope.

If db still does not appear as desired, you may need to delete preferences? I dont think that will be necessary though? not yet?
