With Act 2013, I was unable to use the routine under Tools that identifies duplicate contacts. It alway returned a messsage saying there were no duplicates, when in fact there were known duplicates. No Repair or Reindexing or Rebuild procedure would fix the problem. Finally I had to send it in to technical support for a (paid) repair. It took them nearly three weeks to identify and fix the problem--not because they were slothful but because they genuinely couldn't figure it out. If you have that problem, you too will probably have to get your database repaired. But capitalizing on my experience, you should demand that they not charge you for that service. Presumptively, it won't take so long in your case.
