I use ACT Pro 2013, Version 22.214.171.124, I use a local database on my Windows 7 Professional computer. Something new has started to happen. Act will occasionally freeze after being open for awhile. There is nothing I can do but to open the task manager to shut it down, then restart it. It may then take several days before the problem occurs again. Why would this be happening and what can i do to solve this issue?
7-18-2013 IT HAS NOW BEEN A FEW DAYS SINCE I POSTED THIS MESSAGE, THE PROBLEM CONTINUES, BUT ONLY SEEMS TO HAPPEN ONCE EACH DAY. EACH TIME, I USE TASK MANAGER TO SHUT IT DOWN. THEN ACTI CONTINUES TO OPERATE UNTIL SOMETIME THE NEXT DAY WHEN IT FREEZES AGAIN. ANY THOUGHTS?

When I see issues like this I sometimes wonder if there was an error in the background somewhere, or if something caused the system to stop processing things for Act!
I would check the Event Viewer to see if there is anything listed there after the freeze.
Is this a laptop? I've seen similar happen to laptops if you've let the laptop go into hibernation mode.
In this case I would need more information on what the error is. If you click on Act! when it's frozen, does it make a noise like you clicked the wrong place?

I am not sure what the event viewer is, or where it is located? Can you tell me? I am having the problem on my desktop. The error has not occurred for a few days, so I cannot answer your last question at this point, but I will endeavor to do so the next time this happens.

Manually check for windows updates, also check the optional updates and see if there are any .net framework updates that may need applying. Let me know if you found any updates.
How much RAM does this pc have and how fast is processor.?
If you have 4gig of RAM or less, recommend you use a 4gig usb flash drive as Memory using microsoft readyboost.
I prefer using 8+ gig of RAM but readyboost will help prevent hangs and crashes.-

Close ACT! and Start / Run ACTDIAG DB Rebuild options, then detach db, then re-open 2013 database.
