Act 2012 database connectivity issue

Bought a new pc with w8. Previously had ACT 2012. Installed on new pc. Tried to connect to my existing database. Error message says my database has been configured for a newer version of ACT. I have never had a newer version of ACT. I di upgrade from 2011 to 2012 at one point. But 2012 is installed, so why the error message? Tried to uninstall and reinstall. Same error message.

Yes I now recall that I received a free upgrade to 2013 w my 2012 purchase. It was sent by email and I never received a hard copy. So when I bought the new pc I found the 2012 disc and installed it, forgetting about the upgrade. Thank you!!!!

You probably need to update the version of 2012 (there are service packs and hotfixes that get released).  Here are the downloads for 2012 Pro - http://www.act.com/support/downloads/sage-act-pro-2012/

After downloading all 7 hotfixes I still have the same issue.

Go to Actdiag to check which version your database is...

 

 

  1. Click on your Windows Start button and choose Run.
  2. Type in one of the following commands depending on your version of ACT!:
    • ACT! 2007 and later: actdiag

  Then go to Databases > Database list.  You will see a column for version next to all the databases.

Act v15 is Act 2013.  That database has been opened using Act 2013, so you will need to install that (or upgrade to v16).
