A client sends a job in and I enter the date received in a contact field for that purpose.
I manually respond to client by Write/Email-Message from Template/ choose the template to populate. with a "thankyou for sending your work in." email
How can I automate that so that when I enter the date the job is receved, a macro style process is generated to save on mouse clicks?

Hi Willyw,
Please review the knowledgebase article below for instructions on creating a Smart Task to send email when a criteria is completed.

Thank you,

thanks for the reply Brittany,
I've not used smart tasks before:
But I think the smart task feature allows for a generic style email and does not allow for using an email template (.adt) which has merge fields.
I do want to use an email template with merge fields.

Thanks for posting Scott.
I've got a great working template. I don't want to do a mailmerge.
To get an idea of what I want to do go to a single contact view.....
If I could writre a macro......which I can't...it would go like this..
Left Alt down (hold down Left Alt key
I (i.e. write of the top ribbon bar)
D (i.e. other documetn from template on the drop down mwnu)
Left Alt up (release Left Alt key)
M (first letter of a template in teh templates folder called "Memo)
enter (fires up .adt template populated with fields from this contact)
Any ideas on how to achive that please?

Check out http://www.wavget.com/typeitin/
It can also perform keystroke macros.
