I recently installed Act! 2011 Pro on my company issued laptop (with the help of my company's tech support). The installation from DVD occured without issue (i.e. no error messages). However, when I launch Act! it opens to the demo database where it seems to freeze. I move the cursor around but nothing happens when I click on anything. I have to enter the task manager to end Act! This has happened several times without fail, with one uninstall/reinstall to no avail.
The laptop is running XP Professional, i5 processor and plenty of memory.
Any suggestions on how to fix this?

It may be that ACT! Welcome page is being blocked from accessing the web sites it lists. You can use the instructions in the following article to remove the Welcome Page contents and then open ACT! to test: KB Article 22628
