We are currently using Sage Act 2010 on Windows Server 2003 but I need to move this database onto our new Windows Server 2012R2 server.
I have installed Sage Act 2010 onto the new 2012 server and I have copied the database over. Locally from the 2012 server I can access the database without issue, I am able to browse all client data.
However remotely from our Windows 7 desktops, although I have shared the database I recieve the error:
"The database could not be accessed. In order to access this database check your network connection and verify that your database server is available"
The 2012 server does not have a firewall installed and I have disabled UAC, I can also browse the network share from my desktop without issue.
Any ideas what the problem could be?

Have you tried to connect and login to the Windows Server 2012's shared folder via both IP and ServerName?
Let's say the server's name is "new_server" and its fixed IP is 192.168.0.22, you connect to it using \\192.168.0.22 and login. Then, you connect to \\new_server and login again.
Next you open ACT to see if you can login into ACT database.
