I need help...I just upgraded to Windows7 and Act 2010. I backed up my Act 2008 before installing the new windows and now cannot remember my password and login ID. I tried creating a new database and importing the contacts from the backed up file but it only gives me the option to pick 12x and the older versions...Im i missing something ?

You wont be able to import from the backup without the ACT! username and password. You'd be asked for this when opening the v10 backup in v12 (ACT! 2010). ACT! is particularly secure and there is no easy way to 'break in' to the database. If you really have no record or recollection of your access details, you can go directly to Sage who offer a service to 'unlock your database'. Expect to pay at least $200 or so.

Welcome to the ACT! Online Community. If you are unable to remember your username and password, the ACT! Technical Support has a utility that can be used to reset your login. If you have just purchased ACT! 2010 and are still under the Getting Started support warranty (which it appears you are), then you can call (800)927-3989 and Support will reset the login for FREE.
Note: Effective 6/1/13, Sage no longers provides support for the Act! software. This is now provided by Swiftpage.
