Act! 2010 - Problem Backing Up Database

When attempting to backup database get the following error message:

Incorrect syntax near the keyword 'Database'.
Incorrect syntax near the keyword 'With'. If this statement is a common table expression or an xmlnamespace clause, the previous statement must be terminated with a semicolon.
PRC_MAINT_BACKUPDB: ERROR EXECUTING DATABASE BACKUP STATEMENT

The first error 'Database' may be related to the folder name, Database-database files, produced when started from the .ADF file.

OS Win 7 Home Premium.

Help to solve both problems would be appreciated

Ron

The issue may be caused by the name.  Try saving your database to a new name using the File > Save Copy As option.  Then backup the new copy.

Re: Act! 2010 - Problem Backing Up Database

I see a reference to 'Database-database files', is the name of your database "Database"?

If it is, was this converted from a previous version of Act!?

Have you ever been able to create a backup?

Re: Act! 2010 - Problem Backing Up Database

Are you backing up the database for the purpose of having a backup or to move the database to a new machine? There may be a work-around. Have you tried opening and backing up the ACT! demo db? If you can backup the demo just fine, but not your own database then that narrows down the potential issues.

Re: Act! 2010 - Problem Backing Up Database

Yes the name was Database and it was converted from v2009.  I have not backed up this database since moving from v2009 as it is in My Documents on a partition that is backed up daily.  I am attempting to move the database to a laptop for use when out of town.

Re: Act! 2010 - Problem Backing Up Database

That fixed the problem.  Strangely I had to switch to Administrator to be able to copy the database.  Once copied and switched back to my own login the database opened without a hitch and can now be backed up.

Great - Thanks for the help.
