In the past we have been able to change the record manager on an opportunities without any issues, however in the last couple weeks when we change the record manager it then changes back to the first person who's name starts with the same initial. For example we change the record manager to Marsha, but them it auto changes it to Malinda as she is our first record manager who starts with M. It isn’t doing this for all record managers but for most. Any help in fixing this issue would be much appreciated.

I think there some issues of this sort in ACT! 2010, where depending upon the columns in a list view, or what fields were first in the layout, values in certain fields would change.
I didn't immediately pull anything up, but you should search through the ACT! knowledge based and you should find something on this.
