Act 2009 does not work on Windows 7 even after installing MS Sql Server 2005

Wasted all day with this.

I just bought a new laptop with Windows 7.  Updated SQL Server 2005 SP 3.  Installed ACT 2009 setup as a supervisor.  After install, did not started ACT

right away.

Copied all the files from the Act data subdirs from my old computer to my new one using network copy.

Started ACT for the first time.  Will not open my tables.  Firewall is off, SQL Act7 and express are running. Screamed.

Exporting old to csv is not an option.  Will lose notes and doubt can link the subdirs stuff.  Both Act program in old and new are 2009.  Same install CD.

Just bough Act 2009 about 3 months ago.  Not ready to buy another version.

While ACT! 2009 doesn't officially support Windows 7, it should run providing you have MS Office installed first.

What you probably did is just copied the databases... and this won't work.

See this ACT! Knowledge Base article to do it correctly -
