When I install Act2009 on my Win XP Pro SP3 laptop I get SQL Server 2005 did not install error. I tried several of the fixes listed on this board but none worked. Has anyone run accross this and have a fix? Also would I run into the same issue with later versions of ACT?

Welcome to the Sage ACT! Online Community!
What ever may be preventing SQL 2005 from installing would probably prevent SQL 2008 from installing. To help troubleshoot your installation, try these steps:
- Uninstall ACT!
- If no other programs use SQL, uninstall all SQL components.
- reboot computer
- Isolate the SQL installation, by installing it manually using the instructions in this article: KB Article 19386
If the installation fails, it should provide more descriptive messages that you can post.
If the installation succeeds, install ACT!. It will connect to the instance created in the manual installation of SQL.
