More probems; I just tried to post my problem and it all fell over after "submit". Seems alot around ACT doesn't work as it is meant to, ie easily!
I have a one user database in Act 8 on accessed via terminal server on MS Server 2003. Act 8 doesn't integrate properly with Outlook such that Act lock up each time you send an email. Interestingly, the email actually makes it to Outlook and can be sent by doing "send/receive" and Act records activity.
Being nervous, I have installed Act 10 on my workstation to not upset the server installation. I saved a copy of my database to the server and my workstation. When I try to open the database using Act 10 from either database location (server or workstation), I get "this database is not shared..........contact your administrator for information". Any ideas on how to fix this?

the nightmare continues. I have discovered that I should be doing a backup and restore. Only problem now is that orig dbase is Act 8 premium which uses a different dbase structure to Act 8 standard. I have installed Act 10 standard and it can't restore a backup from Act 8 premium and Act 8 premium cant open the dbase it has saved to Act 8 std because it has to be save to a drive on the same computer which has the server database structure that won't support Act 8 Std database!!
I can't believe this, i can now remember why i didn't try to upgrade years ago!!!. Any ideas anybody, please???
