I came in today to find none of my workgroup systems can access the main Act! database. Not sure if updates were applied last night - Running Windows XP SP2 on all systems. The Main system was accessible and working fine.
Error from remote system said access was denied - check firewall.
- Exlcusions are made for all internal communication in the firewall and remote systems were able to access the Main files via explorer.
- Also turned off all firewalls and virus protectors to test... still no access.
- Restore from backup and no sucess.
- Tonight I attempted to correct the situation by uninstalling Act! 2007 from the Main system and re-installing figuring it would fix any database issues. Upon re-install, Act! states "Act! is not support this edition of SQL server 2005"
I have a CPA firm and run a tax program that uses SQl and .NET. Neither of these were run over the weekend or updated, so my thought are that the OS is the only possible change.
I'm down and out without ACT... and my calendar :-O
Any advise appreciated.
