Hi, I am new to Act and recently purchased the older version, Act 2006 - Professional 8.
I have created a new database and also designed a new Contact Layout using the Tools -> Design Layouts -> Contact. Along with the new layout I have also created all the new related fields and drop down menus.
The layout has been saved in the database layout folder as .cly file.
The database is still blank, however every time I open Act its loading my new database but with the standard Act layout and not the new one I have created,
How do I get Act to load my database with the new layout every time?

There would be a pull-down either near top or bottom of screen (can't recall the position in ACT! 2006)
It probably shows "Basic Contact Layout 1024x768" (or similar) ... pull it down and select your saved one

Just to add a little more...
ACT will default to the last layout used. However, if you wish to force it to open a specific layout, or a specific database for that matter, this can be done via tools, preferences, Startup and Database Options.
Also, the switch layout button is at the bottom right of the screen in your version of ACT
