Act 11 install error on Vista

I had ACT 2009 and I was installing 2011.  It uninstalled my 2009 and gave me a fatal transfer error 1603 message.  It said there was a error reading a file

Please help.

Re: Act 11 install error on Vista

Hello stodoroki23,
Welcome to the Sage ACT! Community. If the standard uninstall did not work, then you can try using the ACT! Uninstaller utility to remove 2009. The utility and instructions for using are in this Knowledgebase article:
http://kb.Sagesoftwareonline.com/cgi-bin/Sagesoftwareonline.cfg/php/enduser/std_adp.php?p_faqid=1933...

If this does not resolve, then you can do a manual removal of ACT! 2009 per the instructions in this KB article:
http://kb.Sagesoftwareonline.com/cgi-bin/Sagesoftwareonline.cfg/php/enduser/std_adp.php?p_faqid=2295...

Prior to installing ACT! 2011, you will also want to uninstall the following via "Programs & Features" in your Control Panel:
- MSXML 6.0 Parser
- All programs starting with "Microsoft SQL Server"

Tips:
- Before installing, disable User Account Control in Windows. Instructions are here:
http://kb.Sagesoftwareonline.com/cgi-bin/Sagesoftwareonline.cfg/php/enduser/std_adp.php?p_faqid=2022...
- Reboot your machine after uninstalling ACT! 2009 and the other programs I noted before you install ACT! 2011

Note: Effective 6/1/13, Sage no longers provides support for the Act! software. This is now provided by Swiftpage.
