Accessing a database

I have Act 9 and have three databases set up, all of a sudden i am receiving a message when I try opening one of the datqabase, "The database banks could not be accessed. In order to access this database check your network connection and verify that your database server is available. It may be necessary to disable any firewall software on your computer or the server" I do not have a server and am hesitent to disarm my firewall, any thoughts?

This is actually not usually a firewall issue (although it can be). It just means ACT! can't connect.
