Hello-
ACT won't let me get into my main database that is located on my local drive. I can get into other ACT databases on that drive just fine, and an old backup of that database which I have restored also looks good. So, the ACT program seems to be working fine. At this point, I'm just trying to get back my main database with all of its most recent information.
When I run ACTDIAG and go to the list of databases, I get "Unhandled exception has occurred in your application...(the file that I want to get back) is already open and can only have one user at a time." I can't access any databases and am basically kicked out of ACTDIAG.
I don't know how that file can be open. ACT is closed, and I don't know what other program could have that file open. Where could I go to close it? Any suggestions?
Thank you.

The SQL Server opens the databases, not the ACT! program. See if you can lock the database with ACTDIAG. If you can then unlock it after you have locked it.

Thank you for responding. I don't know how to lock a database in ACTDIAG. How would I do that? I just keep getting the "unhandled exception error" whenever I try to do anything in ACTDIAG with a database.

Try performing the steps to copy and rename the database posted by ghollister in the following post: ACT! 2012 database won't open - says its in use by another application
