We've had a catastrophic failure of the domain controller and had to recreate the whole domain from scratch.
The only issue we have run in to is getting ACT back up and running. We have many backups of the ACT db but no users can log in , either with the remote database or the local DB.
I have followed some KB's detaching -reattaching etc but i'm running out of ideas.
If we detachand reattach then the software will reindex and it passes.
Any help appreciated.

You may consider engaging with an ACT Consultant. Many work remotely and can get you back and going pretty quick.
The could not authenticate user error is almost always just entering the combination of username and password incorrectly. If you don't have the correct one, we have tools to reset the password.
