I believe I have a problem with the SQL Server which is causing the syncronizing with Outlook CALENDAR.
I have tried everything from removing ACT2010 and even going back to ACT2008 and updating from there.
I am on XP Professional on my Acer Laptop less than a year old. I cannot update or sync ACT to Outlook 2007
as when I do it looks up or freezes Outlook even though it looks like ACT is syncronizing. When I go over to Outlook
everything is frozen.
If I close and restart Outlook I can read, send or receive e-mails in Outlook but cannot sync my data from ACT2010.
It has always worked in the past up until this past week.
The error I get in ACT when I try to backup is -- The backup was cancelled
Incorrect syntax near 'Files'. Unclosed quotation mark after the charter string
; NO SKIP , STATS = 10, NOFORMAT' , PRC_MAINT_BACKUPDB: ERROR EXECUTING DATABASE BACKUP STATEMENT
I have spent many hours trying to re-create a new database thinking maybe it was corrupt but have same problem with all databases. Since the sync problem with Outlook I can not backup any databases.
I am the only one in my company that uses this and because of that I need to find a fix on my own. I use ACT for my own use in sales and don't have extra financial support to drop my computer off at an ACT Specialist Company since I was out of work for over a year and just started back in January 2011.
I am hopeing someone will read this message and steer me in the right direct to get it fixed as since ACT4.0 I have been using this contact management software but never had a problem like this.
Hope someone out there reads this and can tell me how to fix this.
P.S. I would really appreciate if any reply could be sent to my e-mail address : email@example.com

The error you are receiving is generally due to having a special character (ex: apostrophe) in the file path for your database. Here is an article that explains the situation and how to resolve it: KB Article 13740

Hi Mr. Martin,
I have opened the article you sent me the reply on and ran by the instructions and all went ok.
It did not solve or change anything I had error on.
I have been using ACT since ACT4.0 and never ran into this kind of error problem than I couldn't solve
fairly easy. I have had my IT person at my company even completely erase everything and re-install
ACT2010 and Microsoft Office 2007 and individually they work fine but as soon as I Sync ACT Calendar
to Outlook Calendar Outlook freezes completely.
Myself I think the only way I will ever be able to identify what the problem is or how to solve this problem
will be if Sage personell can link up to my machine like years ago when I was having issues with ACT Beta
I hate to cry the blues as it just isn't who I am but since I was off work for a year and just started this job in January
I am so far behind financially that I don't know which way to turn. No one else in my company uses ACT therefore
it isn't familiar software to them and don't seem to be able to help with this problem.
It looks like I need to consider stopping the use of ACT which has been such a big part of my life in sales since
I just don't have the resources to apply to this problem on my own. My company has been helpful but it doesn't help
my position if I keep bring problems they don't know how to solve and may get the impresssion I am not focusing
on my work as much as I need to be. I just can't afford another set back by being let go from this job.
Is there any other thoughts you might have that could be causing this problem.
Please, anything you could throw my way I will try, but the hours I am putting into this is really getting more than frustrating.
Thanking you in advance look forward to any thoughts you may have.
