ACT2006 Upgrade to ACT2008 or ACT2009 - Issues?

Single user. XP Professional SP3. (No immediate plan to switch to new laptop w/VISTA.). Dell Latitude D610, w/7,200rpm HD.

I currently use ACT2006 (Ver 8.0.2.81). Earlier this year, I purchased ACT2008, but did not install. Now, Sage has a special offer for ACT2009. ($99) through Sep 30.

If I want to upgrade, I have reviewed certain Knowledge Base articles as to how, such as Answer ID 21413. My questions are not how, but why and what if?

Questions -

1. I assume ACT2008 will function with XP Professional SP3? Will ACT2009?

2. Would one advise to upgrade to ACT2008 first and then (maybe) to ACT2009? Or, upgrade to ACT2009?

3. If to ACT2008 first, then I would assume I would then go through any updates so as to "fix" any bugs in the original release.

4. Upgrade to ACT2008 and purchase ACT2009 at the special $99 price and wait to actually install?

5. Any issues that I should be aware of?

Thanks.

Re: ACT2006 Upgrade to ACT2008 or ACT2009 - Issues?

1. I assume ACT2008 will function with XP Professional SP3? Will ACT2009?

-Yes, both versions are compatible with SP3

2. Would one advise to upgrade to ACT2008 first and then (maybe) to ACT2009? Or, upgrade to ACT2009?

-You can go directly to 2009.  Theres no reason to install 2008.

3. If to ACT2008 first, then I would assume I would then go through any updates so as to "fix" any bugs in the original release.

-Go directly to 2009.

4. Upgrade to ACT2008 and purchase ACT2009 at the special $99 price and wait to actually install?

-ACT! 2009 is a better product than 2008 in terms of usability, features, stability, and performance.

5. Any issues that I should be aware of?

-Nothing specific to ACT! 2009.
