ACT will only open Audio Files (ADTS) Help!

I am having trouble opening documents in Sage ACT! Pro 2013. When I try to open/edit templates, the only files available to choose from are audio files (ADTS). I have saved documents and other templates in this location, but when I try to open them in ACT the only option to open anything in is with the file extension .adt.

Please let me know what I can do to fix this issue, so I am able to save, edit and open regular templates in the future.

Thank you

Re: ACT will only open Audio Files (ADTS) Help!

Hello Skmcmiact,

Welcome to the Sage ACT! Online Community!

'ADT' is the extension used for ACT! Word templates.  If the program for this extension is showing something other than Sage ACT!, you can update the program using these steps:

  1. Right click on a template; select Properties
  2. Next to Opens with:, select Change...
  3. Locate and click on Sage ACT!
  4. Click Apply; click OK
  5. Select template through Sage ACT! to test

If you are trying to use the Microsoft Word processor templates, that is controlled through Sage ACT!:

1. Click Tools, select Preferences...

2. Click on Communication tab

3. Select Microsoft Word as word processor

How many users?

I assume you wish to use MS Word as your ACT! word processor? for your Write Templates?

If not, check your Tools / Preference settings, Communications Tab to set your word processor to be ACT! word processor or MS Word.

If set to MS Word, you will see ADT file types.

If set to ACT! word processor, you will see .tpl file type extensions.Smiley HappyFSB
