ACT will not open after reinstall

I had some issues with ACT (I couldn't read details on the Daily Calendar).  I uninstalled the program and reinstalled it and it would not work.  I went back and restored by computer to a week ago and it will still not work.  I get the error message ACT! 9.x/2007 has encountered a problem and needs to close.  We are sorry for the inconvenience. PLEASE CAN ANYONE HELP ME?
