ACT update

I am using ACT 2008 version 10.0.0.  When I checked for updates for this version, I was advised that an update is available.  When I tried to access the update I was told that I needed to be the administrator.  I am the only user of the Dell laptop computer and I did verify that I am the administrator.  The computer OS is Windows Vista.  Have any instructions about how I can download the update?

Re: ACT update

In Vista, you're not reall an Admin unless you turn off UAC as per this ACT! Knowledge Base article - http://tinyurl.com/4wrpq3

You also should be the admin of the database.

10.0.0 doesn't always get the latest update via ACT! Update. You can download the current patch from:

http://www.act.com/support/updates/index.cfm

If sharing the database, ALL users must be on the same build

Re: ACT update

Though Vista says you are an Administrator, you actually are not, due to User Access Control (UAC) being enabled.

1) Close ACT!.

2) Right Mouse Click on the ACT! icon and select "Run as Administrator"

3) Launch ACT! Update via the Menu dropdown.

You should then be able to invoke ACTUpdate.

thanks,
