ACT! report which counts the members of my groups

Hello

I am trying to generate an ACT! report which counts the members of my groups. Could someone send me a template or help me ?

I do not find this feature in standards reports.

Many thanks in advance,

Regards

If you go to the group, then the contacts tab and right click, choose create lookup. This will move the members of the group to your current lookup where the total will be displayed in the upper left.

Re: ACT! report which counts the members of my groups

If you would like to get a count for a field (such as the Contact field) in a report, then once the field is added to the report:

- Right-click on the field and select Properties

- When the field properties screen comes up, go to the Data tab

- Choose Summary

"Summary" gives you a total count in the field, "Detail" lists each individual item in the field

Note: You can use the same field more than once on a report if you need one instance to show Detail and the other to show Summary (total count)

Note: Effective 6/1/13, Sage no longers provides support for the Act! software. This is now provided by Swiftpage.

I'm assuming that you want a report that would give you the count of contacts in each group in one report rather than the count of contacts in a single group which one of the other responses would give you. You could get the report that you want by creating a group report with a contact sub-report so that you could do a count of contacts in the sub-report. If you also wanted an overall count of how many contacts were in all the groups, that's possible but would require additional VB scripting.

Re: ACT! report which counts the members of my groups

Thanks Roy, that is exactly what I want.

I start a Group report, and create a subreport linked to Group Name.

At first, I want the subreport to display all the contacts of each group, so the subreport only contains a Contact Field.

However nothing appears in the subreport. I only get the group name resulting of the main report but nothing from the subreport.

Do you know why ?

Thanks in advance

My guess is that you added a contact field from the wrong table.

Re: ACT! report which counts the members of my groups

Not exactly. Actually, it was because all sections of the subreport was set to Visible:No !! I set them to Visible:Yes and I can see the content, now.

However only the detail section is displayed. The subreport header is not displayed. Do you know why ?

I manage to get the number of contacts for each group but it is displayed for each contact. That is the reason why I want to put it in the header.

Currently, my report look like :

--------------------------------------------

GROUP A

Count : 3 Name : contact 1

Count : 3 Name : contact 2

Count : 3 Name : contact 3

GROUP B

Count : 2 Name : contact 4

Count : 2 Name : contact 5

----------------------------------------

What I would like, is :

--------------------------------------------

GROUP A

Count : 3

Name : contact 1

Name : contact 2

Name : contact 3

GROUP B

Count : 2

Name : contact 4

Name : contact 5

----------------------------------------

Do you know how could I get such result ?

Many thanks in advance,

Best

Troubleshooting a report templates can't really be done without examining the actual template, What you want to do should not be that difficult but without checking the template itself it's hard to say what the actual problem is.

[ Edited ]

Hello,

I will send you my report. However, this issue seems quite simple : the header of the subreport is not displayed. I put a text field in it and it isn't displayed.

Thanks in advance for your help.

Re: ACT! report which counts the members of my groups

My personal experience is that this type of very basic report should be included.
I have been an ACT! user since the early DOS days and only now have started to make use of Groups and subgroups. It would be very nice if a report was created and furnished by ACT!

Currently, since I am not into writing reports, I will use excell and manually enter the group names and counts.  What a waste of time.
