ACT open but not visible

I am using ACT 18 and can open it but it is not visible. I click on the icon in the tray and i can see the start up window as normally happen, but then it is not visible. When I put the mouse icon over the act icon in the tray it shows the small version of Act, like it is open. When I do alt+tab, I can toggle to see the program open in the small version, but cannot view it. I tried to restart but several times get the message to type "services.msc" and the restart Protexis, whicha also does not help.

Re: ACT open but not visible

You could try deleting the act preferences files just in case they have become corrupt.

1) Ensure Act! is closed
2) On your keyboard, press the Windows key + R to bring up the Run dialog
3) In the Run dialog, type actdiag, then press Enter
4) In the Act! Diagnostics utility, click Tools > Delete Preferences Files
5) When prompted whether you are sure you wish to continue, click Yes
6) Once the confirmation window appears, click OK

Open up act and then you will have to re-set up the connection to the database and configure your emails settings if you had them set up previously.

Re: ACT open but not visible

Try holding down the shift key, right-clicking the open window icon at the bottom and selecting Maximize.

Re: ACT open but not visible

We have seen this for  ACT

Issue: you can see the ACT icon on the task bar, but
can not access the program or maximize it.

Source: usually this is caused by disconnecting from one computer
(usually with multiple monitors) rather than logging on. When you
reconnect and the second monitor is not there,  Hence you can't get to it.
Windows stores the last known location of a window.

Solution: Use Alt + Tab to highlight and select the icon (

ACT) Use Alt + Space to access the system menu (nothing visible
is likely to happen). Keep holding Alt and press the letter M for
Move ( or choose the M key or select Maximize) Use Right, Left, Up
and Down arrows to catch the window, at which point you can move the
mouse to recover it.

Re: ACT open but not visible

This solved the problem.  Thank you.  It seemed that Act! disappeared although I could see it was open when I toggled between apps.  I think it had something to do with Outlook 2016 since it only occurred when I opened Outlook.  Thank you!
