ACT on workgroup

due to only 5 pc's, the new location of my job will only have a Windows XP workgroup... got the ACT! database on 1 pc which will be the peer-to-peer workgroup "server".. the database is on there, should i be able to get into that database from another pc not in the workgroup ? that is what i tried but did not work... it said to disable the firewall which i did.. but to no avail.

what to do ?

thanks!

Re: ACT on workgroup

If the client stations can access files on the host station, then the should be able to open the database.  Yo want to make sure they are in the same Workgroup.  One way to test from the client station is to go to Start/Run and type in //server machine name (where this is the name of the server machine) and see if it pulls up the shared files on the server. Also make sure full permissions are granted on the ACT! database files, and that you have turned off simple file sharing on the server.

Note: Effective 6/1/13, Sage no longers provides support for the Act! software. This is now provided by Swiftpage.
