ACT not getting updated by Outlook when using VPN

When I'm in my office and connected to our wireless network, Outlook and ACT work perfectly.  But when I'm working from home and using a VPN to connect to the ACT database, Outlook tells me that it is not properly configured and any emails that I send do not automatically update ACT.  Any help would be much appreciated.

Derek,

Rather than using the VPN to connect remotely, you might want to use ACT! Remote Database Sync with a Synchronised copy of your office database on your laptop. The VPN will then enable you to carry out the Network Sync.

You can then setup your Outlook on your Laptop to integrate with the ACT! Remote Database.
