Since I upgraded to Office 2013 from Office 2007 I have not been able to access the field list in the Word template designer. ACT shows as an option in the Addins tab, but no fields are listed. I have tried everything I can find. E.g. KB36939, repairing Office, uninstalling Office & reinstalling, uninstalling ACT! & reinstalling, UAC turned off, Macro settings low as possible, Addins are activated. I also use the Durkin custom tables plugin, & it’s mail-merge function doesn’t list the fields either. Has anyone have any suggestions to resolve? System info:
Win7 Pro 32bit SP1
ACT! v16 Premium 16.0.291.0, Hot Fix 5
MS Word 2013 15.0.4605.1001 MSO 15.0.460501002 32bit (part of Office 365)

Thanks for the suggestion, worth a try but no success yet. I did modify your instructions slightly. i.e. I uninstalled all Office programs & ACT! from Control Panel, then installed Office 2013 followed by ACT! No change so I uninstalled ACT! using the ACTUninstaller tools, & then reinstalled. Still no change. I haven't tried manually uninstalling all ACT! components per the KB's yet. Have done that in years gone past pre Uninstaller & found it a bit of waste of time.

Thanks for your suggestion Bill. That KB relates to old versions of ACT! & Office, but I guess the principle is the same. Whether I am in the template editor or in a generic Word document, when I choose Addins, ACT!, there are no options under the ACT! menu. So the addins seem to be loading to a point, but not enough to be usable.

then my personal recomendation would be to consider to rebuild the pc.

Thanks Ingo. It might come to that because my notebook is due for replacement. Very frustrating though that it can't be resolved in other ways.

You mentioned that your MS Word was part of office 365 and I am guessing but I do not believe ACTv16 is compatible with office 365?
https://www.designr1.com/ this add-on may resolve?
These kb articles may have been created a few years ago, but they were updated just a few months ago.
I assume you have also un-installed the Durkin add-on when you un-installed ACT!?
Have you checked with Durkin to see if their add-on maybe the prob?
I also noticed you listed your os as win7 pro 32bit os? seems like it should be 64bit os? How old is your notebook pc?
How much RAM and how fast is your cpu? You need at least a 2.1 gig cpu and at least 4+ gig of ram.
Have you run the ACTDIAG db Rebuild options yet? cheers - FSB

Thanks Bill. I think the laptop is fine as far as resources go. It is 4 years old, but has 4GB RAM & a new SSD. I think my problem is likely to be because I have installed a C2R version of Office 2013/365. Did my best not to, but stuffed-up I guess. KB#33125 was quite useful. While it related to ACT! 2013/v15, it included the Outlook2013_c2R.reg file. If I close ACT!, run the file, then open ACT! & the edit templates, the field list pops up. Close the editor & it is all over rover. I need to repeat the process. So my next trick is to replace my Office365 with a full MSI version of Office 2013. Hopefully that resolves it. NB: all other ACT!/Office functions seem to work fine with my Office365. Just the Word addin not functioning.
