ACT link for palm OS 2006 settings

I have tried to set up the link for ACT and palm but each time I do the initial desktop overwrite the log  the ACT datebook and contacts failed with the error message "The ACT! product may not be installed properly, or you may not have the required version (ACT! 3.0.5 or later)."
I am using version 4.1 of palm desktop software, ACT! by Sage 2007 (9.0) Version 9.0.1.162, Hotfix 1,

I have had act 9.0 for nearly a year now so I can't get any help from ACT themselves, I just don't know where to go, I am based in Australia, can anyone help?

Are you sure you're loading ACT! for Palm 2.0 and not 1.0?

Where in Australia are you based?

Hi GL Computing
I am using ACT link for palm os 2006 settings which was with the ACT program that was downloaded. So i maybe using 1.0 but not sure?

I originally trialled ACT for Palm OS, and when the trial finished, I found  ACT no longer sold Act for Palm OS 2007 on the website. So I found ACT link in my software, so to work out the difference I thought I would try this.

I am at Emu plains NSW, near Penrith.

Re: ACT link for palm OS 2006 settings

The ACT! Palm Link (included with ACT!) and ACT! for Palm (as you first mentioned) are different things

Also, I can only find references to that error with ACT! 6.0 and ACT! Palm Link

Assuming you have ACT! 2006 (8.0) as you said, and you're using the ACT! Palm Link, try getting the updated versions as per this article in the ACT! Knowledge Base - http://tinyurl.com/235jzx

Do you deal with an ACC out west?

Hi Mike,

The story is i had Act 2002 until I upgraded last year to Act 2007.

With the information you mentioned I found ACT 2.0 in the registry, and so I deleted it and the files mentioned in the  product fact fact sheet. but still I am unable to get the ACT to update the desktop so the handheld is updated

The Hot sync log still has the following message:
The ACT! product may not be installed properly, or you may not have the required version (ACT! 3.0.5 or later).

I notice when I go into the all programs list I see 2 folders:
1) ACT I assume this is ACT 2002 because it has sideact listed in it.
2) ACT! by sage

When I try to uninstall 1) above using the option in the ACT program list it tells me that it is unable to locate installation log file c\Smiley Tonguerogram files\Act\uninst5.isu Installation will not continue. It is not listed in the add remove programs so it appears that may be only partially removed.

I tried to instal this in August last year but had the same problem so I gave up and I am about to do the same and try to locate a non trial version ACT for palm OS. At least itworked for me until the trial period ended. Do you know where I can find out what the  2 programs are?

I am not sure what you mean by ACC?

Re: ACT link for palm OS 2006 settings

Not sure what you mean by ACT! 2002. There was an ACT! 2000 (5.0) and an ACT! 2004 (6.03)

Do you know which version?

If you have some conflicting versions, the best solution might be to do a manual uninstall of both and install ACT! 2007 cleanly

Re: ACT link for palm OS 2006 settings

I just found the old CD and it was ACT 5.0  .

I am not sure how I can manually uninstall because I thought I tried to that today.

Re: ACT link for palm OS 2006 settings

Uninstall ACT! Link for Palm 2.0 with this ACT! Knowledge Base article - http://tinyurl.com/ypnhgt
Then this article for ACT! 5/6 - http://tinyurl.com/2y3nsm

If you're still having problems, uninstall ACT! Link for Palm for ACT! 2007 - http://tinyurl.com/28q6t8

Get the ACT! Link for Palm OS 2007 from http://tinyurl.com/2ct56p

Install it as per - http://tinyurl.com/yvhxdh

BTW: The title for the thread is ACT!Link for Palm OS 2006... you did mean 2007 (9.0), right?

Mike,

The program I was using was titled ACT link for palm OS 2006 but shouldn't have been.

I have now uninstalled manually ACT 5.0 and ACT 2007,  ACT link2,  ACT for palm OS vs 2,  and Act Link for palm OS 2007 and 2006

I haven't gone any further because when I try to launch ACT 9.0  after reinstallation, It says it failed to open a connection to the database. Do I need to put the database back up in a particular file to restore it?

Thanks Graeme

Re: ACT link for palm OS 2006 settings

If it was titles ACT! Link for Palm OS 2006, you shouldn't have been using it

Did you also manually uninstall the Palm links before you uninstalled ACT! 5/9

What's the exact error you get?
