There is currently a known issue regarding the ALFQB 4.0 unable to link with remote databases that is currently under further research. Right now, I'm not sure if ALFQB was designed to link with remote databases.
Here is a note taken from ACT! Link for use with QuickBooks System Requirements:
Important Note Regarding Usage: Linking multiple ACT! databases to one QuickBooks database is not supported. This includes having a remote sync user and remote databases.

We have a product that works with ACT! remote databases. The product is called QBSalesData and creates a link between ACT! and Quickbooks, and synchronizes the data into fields in the ACT! databases. Because all of the information is stored within ACT fields and tables, the data synchronizes out to remote databases.
