I'm trying to sync my ACT 2011 contact with Outlook 2013. I have tried following the guide in the help menu, but the 'outlook synchronization preferences' bar is greyed out in the preferences menu along with all the options in 'synchronize with outlook' under tools and 'synchronize contact with outlook' under contacts.
The database file is on a server on the local network. Every other PC on the network running ACT is able to sychronize, but they all have Windows 7 and Outlook 2010 while the problem PC has Windows 8 and Outlook 2013; maybe that is part of the problem.

Your post is not complete but I will take a guess?
All 2011 users should be on same version of ACT! so when you installed the act2011 pro? premium? prem for web?, did you also insure that it was same version(servicepaks/hotfixes) as the other act2011 users? reference act! / help / about? to view exact version info.
If you need to apply a hotfix/serv pak, then get that from the ACT! Downlaod Center http://act.com/support/download-center/
ACT!2011 is probably not 100% interfaceable with outlook2013

Will try to help. Did you follow my instructions in above post? Your post is not complete.
What exact version of act2011 pro r u using and how many users? reference act! / help/about...
Are there multiple users ? using remote data bases/syncs? or are you a single user? All users need to be using the same EXACT version/build....
Follow my instructions in previous post above and let me know how that worked out.

Sorry about the incomplete information. I am using Sage ACT! Pro 2011 Version 13.0.401.0 Hot Fix 2. I am the only user. I am also using CompanionLink Express Version 18.104.22.168 (build 6048) to sync my laptop Lenovo T61 with my Samsung Galaxy Note 2 and Samsung Galaxy Tab 4. I am using DejaOffice 3.2.16 (789) on both the Note 2 and Tab 4. I am a home base accountant and working on my LIONS Club servicing activities and my political activities with the local constituents (about 2,000). I am currently using 2 databases on ACT! - one for business and service club activities and the other dedicated to political activities. I used ACT! since the Palm III and onward and switched to android the last 4 years. My intention is to use ACT - Outlook to touch base with my constituents with e-mail and keep updating the history and responses. I hope you can help.
I read your note and did not actually attempt the remedial steps thinking my configuration - Windows 7 Ultimate is different from Windows XP (which I migrated from that quite some time ago).

After sending you the last message, I went back to your message and tried to update my Hot Fix. I started Hot Fix 6 and with the message bounce back "This update does not apply to this version of ACT!....". I then tried Hot Fix 4 with the same result.

Act 2011 is not compatible with Office 2013. If you want to use this feature you'll need to upgrade your version of Act to v17.

Try this, go to the download center and scroll down to where you see the CA Updates ( for Canada) and download service pack 1 , then try the latest hotfix for CA..
Then, Close ACT!2011 and reopen it.
you need to get your ACT!2011 pro up to date 1st.

Bill, thank you for getting back to me so fast. Yes, I went to the download centre and start downloading and updating the SP and HFxs one by one. I also close the ACT! and restart windows. The latest check with ACT!, it still shows. HotFix 2 only. Is there a way to find out whether my HFx2, HFx4, HFx5 and HFx6 are in place? The ACT-Outlook Sync Preference button / panel is still grey out.
Further Karen Fredricks of Tech Benders 561-470-5450 also responded to my message saying that ACT! 2011 is not compatible to Outlook 2013. Is that true?
