ACT Scheduler - task not being executed

I set up a task back in February to back up my database every week at 7:30PM, and to send me an e-mail notification of the success or failure of the scheduled task.  As can be seen in the Task log below, only 7 backups were done. The last one was in March; it hasn't run since.  And I don't recall having gotten any e-mail alerts for those sessions.

 

Furthermore, there don't even appear to have been any attempts to run the task since then (no error messages).

Hi CraigJ,

 

It seems like the Service has not been running, as we would expect errors to appear if their was an issue backing up. However it seems the last one worked without issue.

 

As the backup takes place on a Sunday I would like to know if the machine with the scheduler setup has been turned on that day.

Other from within the Act Scheduler can you confirm that the Backup task is showing and the 'Start Service' button on the left is greyed out.

It can also be checked from Windows Button > Services.msc > ensure Act! Scheduler is running.

Horn,

 

Start service was not grayed out. So I tried clicking it and got a message saying I have to run the application as an administrator.  But I already am running it as an administrator. Or so I thought.

 

So I closed the app, and relaunched it to Run as an Administrator.

 

I then clicked Tools, ACT Scheduler - and got the same message.

If you can make sure the Act! scheduler is closed fully by the Task Manager In Processes / More details, then navigate to the install location of Act!

 

Open Windows File explorer.

navigate to one of the locations below:
64-bit OS
Act! Pro or Act! Premium: C:\Program Files (x86)\ACT\Act for Windows
Act! Premium (access via web): C:\Program Files (x86)\ACT\Act for Web

32-bit OS
Act! Pro or Act! Premium: C:\Program Files\ACT\Act for Windows
Act! Premium (access via web): C:\Program Files\ACT\Act for Web

Find Act.Scheduler.UI.exe 

Right click > Run as Administrator

Try and start the service.

 

If this works we may need to ensure that the Act.Scheduler.UI.exe is running as admin automatically.

Please Right click > Properties > Compatibility > Tick: Run this program as an Administrator > OK

Once you do get into Scheduler delete the backup information and then re-input it.

I did as you said and when I tried to start the service, I was once again told I must run the application as an administrator.

Can i confirm that it was the Act.scheduler.ui.exe as there is also Act.scheduler.exe.

If you have not already can you Right click > Properties > Compatibility > Tick: Run this program as an Administrator > OK

 

Please ensure the application has been closed from task manager before applying the change as they will not take effect.
