ACT! Pro 2012 will NOT install

I am attempting to ACT! Pro 2012 on a 64 bit W7 machine with SQL Express 2008 R2 and Office Pro Plus 2010. I work for a government agency and all of our user's machines have a standard image which receive Windows updates on a regular basis. We have ACT! Pro 2012 installed on roughly 50 machines. We recently had a user's hard drive go bad, and it now appears that ACT! doesn't want to install on our image anymore. We’ve tried it on several machines and are using the exact method we used when we originally deployed the machines to our ACT! users. We installed SQL Express 2008 R2 first, and then attempt to install ACT! Pro 2012. We except the license agreement and proceed with a Typical install, and then it fails when it reaches "Install_sql_engine_core_inst_Cpu64_Action".....the progress bar just totally freezes. I've tried several different install methods (both SQL and ACT!) using admin credentials with the same result on every machine I've tried. We even turned off UAC. I am at a loss here.

Is anybody else having this issue? I'm guessing that maybe one of the updates we've taken since our last successful install may have caused this problem? Any help would be GREATLY appreciated!!!

Re: ACT! Pro 2012 will NOT install

When you installed SQL Server, did you manually create the instance as well, or did you just install the default instance? If you manually created the instance, I would recommend running the installation as a custom installation and exclude SQL Server from the installation. If you just installed the default instance, try to manually create the SQL Server (ACT7) instance, then install Act!. If you aren't familiar with this, the instructions are in the knowledgebase article below:

If you're trying to install it as a Domain administrator, try instead to log into the local built-in administrator account and install it from there.
