I have ACT Pro 2012
I enter the name for a new group but I cannot save the new group.
I tried adding contacts to the group while still in the create new group window but they do not show up in the group contacts list. I found that if I entered something in "Group Notes" and closed, the contacts would then show up in the Group and the Group name also shows up in the Group Tree. At this point I cannot remove or add another contact to the group.

Hello ComplianceTeam,
Welcome to the Sage ACT! Community. You'll need to ensure that you are logged into the database as an Admin or Manager user. Standard users do not have access to the duplicate checking settings. In addition, this setting is not available on remote databases either.

Thanks for the response Greg. Once that setting is change, can remote users still create and maintain groups?
